This Elegy is not for a specific individual. It is for the countless numbers of people and animals who die each day from war, gun violence, poverty induced by monetary greed, or the demise of a way of life in tune with nature. Or it is for any loss you may have personally experienced.
It expresses sadness, condolence and a plea for peace. It creates a brief space for silence and reflection. There is much to mourn in today’s world. But there are also rays of hope. Hope that we may one day respect and honor all living beings, and that the life of spirit is eternal.
